On Friday, October 28, the world was supposed to end – again. And, in a way, it may actually have. It’s not the apocalyptic destruction of people kind of way, but the world as we know it may have ended. The dawn of a new era in human technology seems to be here. It’s not a new Apple toy or a new computer processor, but rather a new way to create clean and effective energy. Before you stop reading this article because you think the subject is moot or doesn’t relate to you, I should point out that energy production is the most important thing for all human beings in Western civilization. It’s what allows your smart phones, computers, cars, household electricity, heating and air conditioning, transportation of food, and pretty much anything that requires a source of energy to work.
Andrea Rossi successfully tested a new form of energy that was mostly thought to be theory. It’s called cold fusion; you may have heard it mentioned in science fiction, but now it’s here. The power device itself is called the E-Cat, which stands for Energy Catalyzer, and it works really, really well. What’s even better is that it’s completely green with no negative emissions or harmful byproducts. Though the creator states that it’s actually a LENR (Low-Energy Nuclear Reaction), the two seem indistinguishable. The days of wind turbines, solar panels, contemporary nuclear power, and fossil fuels may very well be obsolete. The days of nuclear fallout like in Japan will be a thing of the past.
The test was performed in Bologna, Italy. You may be thinking, as I did when I first heard this, that with the location of the test, it may be, well, bologna, a hoax. However, numerous well-known scientists such as Dr. George H. Miley, a nuclear engineering professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, attended the testing of the plant and verified its power production. There is also video footage available online of it running successfully. Media outlets like Forbes and Wired magazine have already reported on the same story, as well as NyTeknik and Pure Energy Systems News.
The plant itself is extremely small; the power source that can produce up to 1 megawatt (an average nuclear source, which is very large, produces about 5 megawatts) fits inside a normal-sized shipping container used for international trade. During its test, however, there was a small technical glitch that only allowed it to produce half a megawatt. It works much like a normal nuclear reactor, which heats up water and uses the steam to create energy. The E-Cat, however, doesn’t use radioactive materials. Instead, it uses an unreleased nickel-based catalyst combined with hydrogen, one of the most abundant materials on Earth. The initial reaction requires a source of energy like diesel, but once it’s running, it can remain self-sustaining. When the ignition temperature is reached for the reaction, hydrogen atoms penetrate into the nickel catalyst, with a resulting byproduct of copper. Yes, that’s right. It’s the same kind of copper that is in your walls and all the wires in your electronic devices.
Mystery
Rossi was working for an unknown client, who is remaining anonymous for the time being for an unknown reason. There is much speculation, though, that the client is actually the well-known company, Google. Speculation of this derives from Google’s green energy initiative, which has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in finding renewable energy sources. If you go to www.e-cat.com, you will be redirected to Google’s green page. Now, though this doesn’t prove that Google was the secret client for the E-Cat cold fusion device, it does show that Google is somehow involved or interested in it. It seems that the U.S. government branch DARPA also has some sort of involvement
In the future…
The question to ask is this: What does this mean to me, and how will it change my life or the world? Well, if this energy source is legitimate, it will eventually completely release any Western interest in the Middle East. This could have detrimental effects to the Middle East, considering their main export is crude oil. It might also mean an end to the U.S. occupational war in the Middle East. Cars will probably change as well if they are capable of downsizing the energy producer to fit inside a vehicle. Electricity companies will likely be put out of business, since the energy will be so cheap and easy to create that it wouldn’t even be worth metering the amount used. Manufacturing as a whole will be completely turned around; if energy is essentially free, then factories would be capable of producing as much of a product as their resources allow them. This also means that factories could end up being 100% carbon emissions-free.

Nice story Jared. I’m glad to see people like yourself are helping to get the word out. I would just like to add one correction. To the best of my knowledge, Dr. George Miley did not attend the recent test in Italy. He did give a presentation a week earlier at the World Green Symposium in Philadelphia where he outlined his successful efforts at replicating the work of cold fusion pioneer James Patterson. In his presentation Dr. Milley made several references to Mr. Rossi and his current work. More details are at my site e-catsite.com.
I would also like to thank you for appropriately pinging back to my site. Unfortunately not all web sites and blogs are good like that.
